On 12 December 2017, in Ashgabat, within the framework of the working visit, the Head of the Tajik delegation, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseynzoda, met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN.
Also, the sides highly appreciated the results of the high level visits committed this year and the agreements reached during the negotiations for the development of fruitful cooperation and a trusting relationship.
The interest of both sides was expressed in strengthening and developing mutually beneficial relations in political, socio-economic and humanitarian-cultural spheres. In the process of expanding multilateral relations, the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on economic, commercial and scientific cooperation were considered important.
The parties also expressed their opinions on regional issues, including the acceptance of joint measures to maintain peace and security and create an enabling environment for sustainable development.
